former Eckington resident Kris Hammond

Some of you may recall Kris Hammond, who lived in Eckington on North Capitol Street NE at one point.

On Friday, I learned, quite unexpectedly, that Political Storm columnist Kris Hammond died after a long fight with MS. We at Political Storm are deeply saddened by his death and our thoughts and prayers go out to his parents and family.
Kris was a former civil rights attorney, who fought passionately for equal rights for others. He had gone into private practice in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2016 and was known for his anti-Trump stance in the party.
His columns for Political Storm were critical of Donald Trump and regardless of our readers’ views, were well-reasoned and supported that position well. He was a very entertaining writer, who was taken very seriously and he was important to us in our early days.
He reflected the best of our mission, which is to bring all sides of the issues that confront all Americans to our readers for debate and honest discussion.  We need more of that in these contentious times. He will be missed.
In case you haven’t read Kris’ work, here are the articles he wrote for us:

My husband and I went to Mt. Vernon High School with Kris and knew him to be a very intelligent and thoughtful person. His passion was politics and journalism even way back then. He had a serious nature that seemed to always zero in on any topic at hand. We are so sad to hear this news and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
