Good Afternoon,
In 2011, Tony Lewis Jr. and I sponsored a March for Peace at
the Intersection of North Capitol Street and Florida Ave NW. That was the site of the murder of Bill
Mitchell, Jr. That murder symbolized a
need for unity and the fusing of diverse cultures in Ward 5 and beyond. We were also reminded at that moment that the
value of all lives are the same. And we
can`t take that for granted.

We are gearing up for another March for Peace this Saturday
4/13/13 at 4pm. We will gather at the
Florida Ave Park (1st Street and Florida Ave NW) at 4pm. We will be marching from that location to
Tyler House and back. Tyler House
experienced a mass shooting within the last month. We want to march to show support for the
victims and residents of that area.
As the summer approaches, we need to show solidarity and
unity. This is not a protest march. The weather is expected to be nice. We just want people to come out, walk and talk
with one another. That could be the
beginning of a new friendship with someone that you didn`t previously know.
I look forward to seeing those that can make it out.
