Thank you, Diton, for this update.  I am sorry to hear that the confusion with the dispatcher.  But at least the issue (always on the minds of many residents) was not one of slow response.

Thank you as well, Cmdr. Beach, for delving deeper into this incident.  If you have any other information or suggestions, please let us know.

Have a great day,
John

Hello Everyone,

Yes, Someone snatched a purse from a customer on the patio and started running south on first street. I was outside when the incident happened and I chased after him. I caught up with him on Seaton place (halfway up towards north cap). He dropped the bag and was headed towards North Capitol and took a right going south. At this point I called the police. They showed up about 15 minutes later after they got the call. There seemed to have been a minor confusion between me and the dispatcher as the patrol unit was searching northbound on North Cap. After the police showed up we took a ride in their car but no luck. This was the first incident of this nature at our restaurant and I hope is the last one. Thank you for attention in this matter. The patrol car that showed up was very courteous and they were already looking for the guy based on my description to the dispatcher. Just the direction where he was headed was wrong.

Again - thank you very much and hopefully this is the last incident of its kind at Rustik.

Best,

The best that I can add is that Rustik Tavern is at the corner of 1st & T NW (84 T Street NW), which is in the heart of PSA 501.  The incident appears to have occurred about 8:00 p.m. last night.

I have copied Diton Pashaj who owns Rustik to see if he can add more.

so glad the purse was recovered and a speedy response (if wrong direction!) by MPD5! I can remember the time in Bloomingdale when police response was not as swift!
