Subject: Soliciting your participation at McMillan Hearing in support of BCA's CBA
Dear Board members and Neighbors:
Yesterday evening the BCA Board conducted a conference call to discuss its strategy for testifying at the McMillan Zoning Commission hearings. Those hearings are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at 441 4th St., NW (Judiciary Sq Metro) -- Suite 220 South on the following dates:
- Thursday, May 1 (Master Plan, Open Spce & Parks, Community Center)
- Monday, May 5 (Multi-family building /Senior citizen housing & Townhouses)
- Thursday, May 8 (Healthcare Facility)
We are seeking additional volunteers to testify in support of the Community Benefit Agreement Resolution approved by the BCA membership and submitted to the Zoning Commission.
Attached you will find a description of the priority benefits of that CBA. Those priority benefits include the following major concerns:
- Traffic on First St.
- Re-adaptation/and use of more underground cells
- Historic preservation
- Beautification(of site and community)
- South Service Park and Community Center design issues
As there is no hearing specifically designated to "CBAs", the BCA Board thought it wise to try to present testimony at ALL hearings and creatively link such testimony to "the issue of the evening".
Please review the descriptions of priority BCA benefits and identify any provisions you would like to testify on. If you have already committed to testifying on your own behalf or that of another organization, please determine if you could insert into that testimony a sentence indicating your support of some specific provision(s) of 'the " BCA Resolution on McMillan CBAs dated 3/24/14".
We encourage written testimony and use of visual materials on thumb drives.
Should you desire to testify on behalf of BCA, or testify on behalf of others but include mention of your support for a BCA CBA provision -- PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP OF THE BENEFI OR PROVISION OF YOUR CHOICE AND PREFERRED TESTIMONY DATE.
It takes a village -- and BCA needs your help! The McMillan Site development is is neither a fair or easy battle. Please help us spread the word. Even if folks don't testify, it is important that Bloomingdale has a strong presence. Beside, the hearings will be the best show in town!
Thank you for your kind consideration--
Bertha
