BoomHammer artists in Open Studios BoomHammer Resident Artists Participating in the 52 O Street Artists' Annual Open Studios Sat & Sun May 10 - 11 noon to 6pm                            52 O Street Artist Studios is celebrating the building's Centennial this year with its annual spring Open Studios event. The warehouse has housed many different enterprises over its long history, but has remained a bustling artist community for the past 39 years. BoomHammer will host new visual artworks by long term studio occupants Lisa Marie Thalhammer and Thom Flynn, soundscapes and music curated by long term studio resident DJ Natty Boom, and digital graphic design by temporary BoomHammer artist in residence Eileen Tjan. BoomHammer will also feature a smoothy bar located in studio #100 adjacent to the first floor upper entrance of the building. 52 O Street Open Studios will be open to the public on Mother’s Day weekend May 10th & 11th from noon to 6pm at 52 O St. NW in Washington, DC. With her bold use of color and geometric shapes, Lisa Marie Thalhammer will be showing new artworks inspired by her recent sabbatical in Peru (2013) and travels in Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula (2014). Thom Flynn  began his "non sanctioned recycling program" while still a student at American University in the late 90's.  Since then, his abstract compositions comprised of street posters have been exhibited in DC, NY, LA, Baltimore, and Chicago.  Works from his most recent body explore the more minimal territory of his found material. Natty Boom has DJ'd and/or performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, iBomba at Brooklyn’s Bembe, DC's Black Cat, Tropicalia, across the Mid-Atlantic Region, and Lima, Peru. Eileen Tjan is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s School of Art and Design with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. As a multidisciplinary designer, Eileen is currently employed at Design Army in Washington, DC.
