(Washington,
DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are
investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 100 block of Michigan
Avenue, Northwest on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
At
approximately 3:27 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to a call for a
stabbing. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male, unconscious and
suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire & EMS transported the victim
to an area hospital, where all lifesaving efforts failed and the victim was
pronounced dead.
The
decedent has been identified as 44-year-old Otis Byrd of Greenbelt,
Maryland.
The
Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000
to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of
the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of
Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the
police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be
submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Wednesday, August 10, 2016, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 20-year-old
Brandon Byrd of Northeast, DC was arrested and charged with Second
Degree Murder While Armed. This case is domestic in nature.
