All Purpose, the pizza-centric restaurant in Shaw from the owners of Red Hen restaurant and Boundary Stone bar in Bloomingdale, opened its doors Thursday.

The 2,500-square-foot restaurant at 1250 Ninth St. NW seats 105 inside, including a 15-seat bar. The menu, from Chef Michael Friedman, includes six pizzas, including the Cossimo, with roasted mushrooms, Taleggio and scallions, and the Buona, with pepperoni, mozzarella, chili honey and basil.

Red Hen owner and sommelier Sebastian Zutant and Boundary Stone owners Gareth Croke and Colin McDonough will handle the beverage program, including a 50-bottle wine list, local craft beer and spirits and a small menu of classic cocktails.

Desserts will come from neighboring Buttercream Bakeshop, the bakery from former Neighborhood Restaurant Group pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac, who is also managing production of All Purpose’s pizza dough. All Purpose is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and closed Monday for now.
