G2 Metrobus detour -- effective for the next five years

3rd St between Florida Ave & Rhode Island Ave NW Long Term Detour, effective May 19

Effective Thursday, May 19, 2016 for the next five years
Route Affected: G2
Due to a long-term DC water project, 3rd St between Florida Ave & Rhode Island Ave NW will be closed, During this time, route G2 will detour.

G2 P Street-LeDroit Park westbound toward LeDroit Park
  • Buses begin detouring on P St at New Jersey Ave NW, to resume regular route on 4th St at Elm St NW.
G2 P Street-LeDroit Park eastbound toward Georgetown
  • Buses begin detouring on 4th St at Elm St NW, to resume regular route on 3rd St at Q St NW.
The following bus stops will not be served:
  • P St & New Jersey Ave NW (eastbound)
  • P St & 3rd St NW (eastbound)
  • 3rd St & Q St NW (both directions)
  • 3rd St & R St NW (westbound)
  • 3rd St & Florida Ave NW (eastbound)
  • 3rd St & Rhode Island Ave NW (both directions)
  • Cooper Circle & 3rd St NW (eastbound)
  • Cooper Circle & T St NW (westbound)
  • 3rd St & U St NW (both directions)
  • Elm St & 3rd St NW (eastbound)
  • Elm St & 4th St NW (both directions)
The following bus stops will be added:
  • New Jersey Ave & P St NW (westbound) currently served by route 96
  • New Jersey Ave & R St NW (both directions) currently served by route 96
  • New Jersey Ave & Rhode Island Ave NW (both directions) currently served by route 96
  • 4th St & T St NW (westbound)
  • 4th St & U St NW (eastbound)

FYI, the G2 bus detour actually started yesterday. I know all of the notices said May 19th, but apparently they changed it to May 15th. This morning, there were a bunch of us that were running around trying to find the bus and were extremely delayed. The westbound bus is already going down New Jersey, so you might want to let everyone know.
