Bloomingdale Historic District added to the chart of DC historic districts eligible to participate in the HPO historic homeowners grant program (at long last)

The HPO website includes a chart of DC historic districts that are eligible to participate in the HPO historic homeowner grant program. 

The “Bloomingdale Historic District Targeted Historic Preservation Assistance Amendment Act of 2020” introduced by the DC Council, signed by the Mayor, passed Congressional review became effective on Wednesday, 12/23/2020.  So the Bloomingdale Historic District has been eligible to participate in the grant program since 12/23/2020. 

It has just been added to the HPO chart, which is copied in below.

Opponents of the redevelopment of the McMillan Sand Filtration site are mounting another legal challenge to the project, though their options for continuing to block demolition on the property are dwindling.

A group of 31 critics of the project asked the D.C. Court of Appeals last week to continue barring any work from starting on the redevelopment effort, one of the most tortured construction projects in the city’s history. Specifically, the group is appealing a March 18 ruling by the D.C. Office of Administrative Hearings that dismissed their concerns about demolition permits tied to the project.
