VMP community-wide presentation on the Gorove/Slade Transportation Impact Study -- Thursday, 04-03-2014

I did not receive the information on this upcoming McMillan meeting.

This information is lifted from the Bates blog.

April 3 Meeting to Discuss McMillan Traffic Impact Study

VMP submitted a Transportation Impact Study (TIS) recently completed by Gorove/Slade to the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) 45-days in advance of the first scheduled PUD hearing for McMillan. There is also a six-page summary with diagrams of street improvements recommended for First Street NWNorth Capitol Street and Michigan Avenue.
The purpose of the TIS is to compare future conditions around the site, analyzing those conditions with and without the proposed McMillan redevelopment to determine if the PUD will have a detrimental impact. AND to develop recommendations to mitigate the impact and improve transportation conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and people driving to and from home or work.
We held a discussion at the last McMillan Advisory Group, where Gorove/Slade presented the study and members of the MAG and meeting attendees submitted questions that will be published on the Envision McMillan website.  We will alert you when the questions are published.
In the meantime, please join us on Thursday, April 3rd at 7PM at All Nations Baptist Church (corner of North Capitol Street & Rhode Island Avenue, NE) for a community-wide presentation of our Transportation Impact Study with Gorove/Slade.
If you’re unable to attend our meeting, please send email questions to info@envisionmcmillan.com and we will absolutely answer them.  We look forward to seeing you  April 3rd!
Sincerely,
Tania Jackson

This Tuesday I need your help.  I am running for Ward 5 Committeeman on the DC Democratic State Committee.  Why am I running?  Because most of the people I've talked with don't even know what the DC Democratic State Committee is.  So I and my slate mates of The Rent is Too Darn High are running as a team to bring DC a Democratic Party with these qualities:

  •  A Democratic Party that is easily accessible to all residents, asks for your input, and keeps you up to date on the policy direction the party is taking
  •   A higher standard of accountability & ethics for our elected officials
  •  A Party that works to create affordable housing, generate good jobs aimed at DC residents, advocate for living wages & rally all residents to push for statehood

The RITDH slate offers DC our diverse experiences, backgrounds, and shared vision. Together we will work to create a more democratic DC.  So I also ask you to vote for any of my slate mates that are on your ballot!

Rene Albacete: opposition to a public parkland giveaway in the capitol of the country of Georgia -- McMillan parallel

See this message from Bloomingdale resident Rene Albacete:

Can you post this link?   It's a story which parallels McMillian of a grassroots effort by citizens in the country of Georgia that oppose the giveaway of public parkland for private development.

which Democratic mayoral candidate will prevail in Bloomingdale's Precincts 135 and 19 on Tuesday, 04-01-2014 ?

Some registered Bloomingdale Democrats have voted early in the Tuesday, 04-01-2014, DC primary election.

Other Bloomingdale Democrats will be voting this Tuesday on the primary election day.

There are a number candidates on the Democratic slate for mayor.

Regardless of whom your support, which Democratic mayoral candidate will carry Bloomingdale's Precinct 135 at Mt.. Bethel Baptist Church?

How about Precinct 19 at Dunbar High?

I don't want to hear why Candidate X is better than Candidate Y -- or why Candidate Z is the best thing since sliced bread.

I would like to hear whom you think will carry our two Precinct 135 and 19 at the end of the day on Tuesday.  Will the same candidate carry both precincts?  Or might they be different?  What are your predictions?

Will Precincts 135 and 19 vote the same candidates as the other 16 precincts in Ward 5?  Or will Ward 5 as a whole vote for a different candidate as Bloomingdale's two precincts?

Your comments should be neighborhood-specific and not generic.

see the WDCEP 2014 neighborhood profile for North Capitol

Each year, the Washington DC Economic Partnership produces a set of profiles of DC neighborhoods.

What is the WDCEP?  The Washington, DC Economic Partnership "promotes business opportunities throughout the District and contributes to business retention and attraction activities."

WDCEP recently released its set of 2014 neighborhood profiles.

North Capitol is one of the neighborhoods profiled, as in prior years.

The header image for North Capitol includes Rustik Tavern, Red Hen and Uncle Chips Cookies.

Other nearby neighborhoods profiled: NoMa, Northwest One and Union Market.

Each neighborhood profile includes a map, a few paragraphs of description, followed by info on population, households, income, age, consumer expenditures and walk score.

Take a look!
