Eckington Civic Association has not taken a position on pursuing Eckington neighborhood historic designation

Hello neighbors,

I just wanted to clarify something from the email below, particularly since it made its way onto the Bloomingdale listserv and blog as well`

Neither the ECA membership (nor the ECA board) has voted on anything to do with historic designation for Eckington`  It appears that a group of citizens is working towards such a goal, but as of yet, the Eckington Civic Association has not taken a position`

Perhaps we should have people come out to future ECA meetings to educate us about the historic designation process, what its rules mean for homeowners, etc`  (I for one know very little about the process and would want to have a good sense of the rules and process before I formed my own opinion on such a thing`  I know my cousin has had terrible and expensive hassles fixing her house because she lives in a historic district`)

Until we have formal information and presentations, I personally do not feel there should be a membership vote on whether or not the Civic Assn should pursue such a goal`
