seeking referrals for porch removal and installation

See this request from a Flagler Place NW resident:

I was curious if there were any references for porch repairs, remodeling. I am interested is basically taking out my current porch and replacing it with something a little more tasteful and with curb appeal. I was thinking about building a tongue and groove style porch. Any recommendations?

I just rebuilt my porch at 213 T Street NW.

I did the design work myself but I did work with some good carpenters on the install, used Jake Coleman for the roof, and have another carpenter who did the detail work and who is building railings for me now. I can't remember the mason I used, but he did a pretty good job.

I think one of the best ways to design a porch is to just walk around and find things you like. The supporting structure is usually fairly simple -- and the details are what make them really stand out.

The Homeowner center downtown helped me out a lot with understanding the types of permits I would need and getting the drawings together. In the end, it wasn't that hard, but did take some time.

Hit me up at kevin dot oriordan at gmail dot com if you ever need a carpenter or roofing contractor details or just want to talk porches.

I own and operate a small residential construction and property management company here in DC. I'm on the unit block of Adams Street NW and would be happy to stop by and look at the work you would like to have done. I can be reached at 202-213-0103 or mrrrlndboy@yahoo.com. I can provide references and photos of previous projects if you would like. Looking forward to hearing back. Thank you.
