Choque Cultural: New art by Matt Nelson at The Unified
Scene Theater
George
Clinton leads an attack on superheroes in the District; Aztecs play Atari;
Chinese door gods ride with Batman in new works from
illustrator Matt Nelson. This work, plus many more, will be on
display the evening of Feb. 18th. The Arlinton-native’s art, which
draws inspiration from music, pop culture and history, is an eclectic,
genre-bending mix totally tinged by Nelson’s upbringing in 80s-era
D.C. Nelson composes his works on an iPad and printed in giclee on
paper or canvas. The opening will include a set by Coachella DJ Alf Alpha and
an acoustic set by Shaun Brennan. 6
– 10 p.m. at The Unified Scene Theater, 80 T Street, NW.
