Subject: For listserv/action: Attempted car theft at 1st & V Streets NW

This morning in broad daylight, two men keyed our car locks in attempt to steal it from the street at 1st and V Streets NW. They were both African American in their mid-to-late 20s. One stayed in the passenger seat as lookout while the other did the damage.  Upon taking the photos he verbally threatened me and wielded an object, presumably as a weapon, in my direction.

They drove a black Ford pickup with a covered back cab. TRUCK license plate from Texas with tag number: “TX 205 274”.

Pictures of the driver and the truck are attached and have been filed with the police.

Neighbors: Please be vigilant, see something say something, register for the DC Camera rebate program, and let’s demand action from DC Police to install dedicated CCTVs on our streets.

At the least the perpetrators should get one of DC's famous tickets for blocking a fire hydrant and jeopardizing lives.
