We Love You Too: Thanks for Voting
Many thanks and lots of love for all of your support, which most recently landed Yoga District in the City Paper's "Best of D.C." We celebrated and thanked the community with a one-day sale on our Spring 5 class pass, which we hope you had the chance to purchase! Your support inspires us to keep fighting for our mission: to make high-quality yoga accessible through affordable classes and yoga outreach. We're committed to another year of transformative teachings, service, and growth... and by voting you've let us know that you are, too. As we continuously strive to improve, please take a moment to give us feedback on how we can better serve the community and mission. Thanks again for your support! Now, how about some yoga? New teachers and classes are ready for you.

It's All About Balance : Increases on June 1
What can cost $11? A fancy cocktail, a palm reading (with tip), lunch at the "Whole Paycheck" salad bar... the list goes on, and it will soon include one drop-in class at Yoga District. Just one buck up from our $10 drop-in fare, the 10% increase effective June 1 includes all class passes. The modest increase prevents the scales from tipping, since inflation went up 12% since we opened in 2006! The extra funds will go to our teachers, whose pay will increase by more than 10%. If the increase is too much, please fill out a sliding scale fee application. Monthly unlimited members, please be sure to give a month's notice if you want to modify your membership! Read more about where your money goes.

Spring Mat Cleaning: New Storage Areas
The weather's turning warm and the time feels right for a mat clean-out. We'll soon be donating abandoned student mats to Yoga Activist for use in yoga outreach programs. All student mats will be moved to temporary mat storage spaces in each studio, which will be different from the usual storage area. After using your mat on your next visit, place your mat in its usual mat storage area. Mats left in the temporary mat storage space after a month will be donated. If you're unsure about where to put your mat after class, just ask a staff member. Mats donated to Yoga Activist are put to good use across the country and around the world, from neighborhood homeless shelter yoga program to refugee camps in Haiti.

Heating Up
and Staying Safe
Some yoga classes run hot- find out which teachers keep it toasty by checking out their preferences listed in their online teacher bio.If you choose to take a class with a teacher that keeps it hot, bring your own full-size towel to practice on, especially if you're renting a Yoga District mat. Please also remember to keep cuts, scrapes, and skin conditions covered at all times to keep your fellow students safe! Feel free to email us any suggestions on other ways to keep the studios clean, friendly practicing environments through the warmer months.

You're Invited: Put on the Glitz for Yoga Activist
Thanks to all who came to the Yoga Activist fundraiser at Sonoma Restaurant and Wine Bar in Capitol HIll. Yoga activists from across the area came together for a gorgeous evening of beats spun by DJ Rightpath that raised close to $1000. These funds will directly help Yoga Activist improve its free online yoga training guides for those interested in sharing yoga with underserved communities. Whether or not you were able to join us to celebrate this great cause at Sonoma, please don't miss out the next event at District Tea Lodge on Saturday June 22nd at 8pm.

Glover Park Studio Opening May 7th!
Welcome to the Yoga District family, Glover Park! We're busy coordinating eco-friendly paint, ceiling tiles, lighting and floors to help transform what was once a locksmith shop into the Glover neighborhood's only dedicated yoga space. Motivation to open this studio stems from senior teachers Julia and Kat, long-time residents of the neighborhood, who wanted to share Yoga District with their sweet neighborhood. Nestled across the street from the newest Sweetgreen and a block from Whole Foods, this compact and cozy studio space will offer classes every day throughout the day and evening .

District Tea Lodge Opening May 7th!
Starting next Tuesday, District Tea Lodge will be ready to brew you some tea, pour you a Kombucha on draft, or stir up a soothing Kava mocktail on ice. Set in the same building as the I Street studio, you can relax with conscious food and mindful drinks after class, during your lunch break, late night instead of going to a bar, or on your way to shop at the Whole Foods down the street. If you visit and have feedback for us as we start to get in the swing of things, please let us know.
See the details and hours coming soon on the District Tea facebook page.
