Updates at Construction Staging Areas (CSAs)

Adams Street and Flagler Place CSA:  This week, SKJD will begin cutting down the tops of secant piles to allow for roadway and sidewalk restoration on Flagler Place.  As you may recall, secant piles were installed at the onset of the project as a ground support system.  Cutting off the tops (from 2 to 5 feet down) of these interlocking concrete piles is required to make room for restoration of the street, sidewalks, and tree boxes on Flagler Place.

This work is expected to take two weeks and will involve the alternate closing of a small portion of the sidewalk on each side of Flagler Place.  Direct abutters will have access to their homes at all times.  The work will require the use of jackhammers.  In addition to the secant pile work, construction activities related to the near-surface structures, the underground adit, and the drop shaft will continue.

Intersection of First Street and V Street CSA:  SKJD is working in the drop shaft and at the three diversion chambers.  The dominant activities include concrete delivery and placement, installing manhole hatches and covers, stripping forms from completed structures, and backfilling around the new structures.  These activities will continue through June 2016.

Pumping Station at Thomas Street and First Street CSA:  SKJD will soon move the crane to the church parking lot adjacent to the alleyway.  It will remain there for about three weeks.  Moving the crane will allow for the installation of an 8-inch water line.  In addition, work will continue on the pumping station, including internal mechanics and system testing.  Construction in this area should be completed in June 2016.

Memorial Day Weekend Work Schedule:  SKJD will work on Saturday, May 28, 2016.  In observance of Memorial Day, construction crews will not work on Sunday, May 29 or Monday, May 30, 2016.
