The Armed Forces Retirement Home has tapped Madison Marquette and Urban Atlantic as its private partners for the massive redevelopment of an 80-acre section of its D.C. campus.
The AFRH, the nation's oldest retirement home
for veterans, announced Friday that it was provisionally selecting the two
developers for the project, which is now more than a
decade in the making.
AFRH said in a release that the developers are
pitching about 4.3 million square feet of new, mixed-use development and the
reuse of some old buildings as part of its plan. The project will include
residential, retail, art spaces and “sports and wellness venues,” according to
the release. The development team also plans to overhaul the historic power
plant and hospital complex on the property, which sits adjacent to Catholic University.
