Don’t expect to see any earth moving at the McMillan Sand Filtration Plant anytime soon — a D.C. court has barred any demolition on the site for the foreseeable future in yet another, perhaps predictable, setback for the development.
A three-judge panel of the D.C. Court of Appeals issued an injunction last week to indefinitely prohibit the project’s backers — a team of Trammell Crow, EYA and Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners, plus the District — from starting any work on the massive site indefinitely.
The developers and D.C. officials sought to clear one of the many legal hurdles plaguing the project earlier this month, looking to a D.C. Superior Court judge to slap down a challenge to issued demolition permits and finally allow some work at McMillan to begin.
