Hi BFM Fans,

We are excited to tell you that the market will start changing back this Sunday -- and continue over the next few weeks.

  • We ditched One Way -- you can Zig Zag from stand to stand as you used to.
  • The ropes in the center of the market are gone
  • We are welcoming well-behaved doggies on short leashes again.
  • Please continue to mask if you are unvaccinated (or just want to be cautious).
  • Enter and Exit the market at either First and R or R and Florida only
  • Please avoid crowding each other when there are lines at stands

PARKING ALERT.

We held a 3 week grace period of not ticketing and towing cars but starting this Sunday at 7 am, if a car is parked on the 100 block of R St NW, it will be ticketed and towed.

You'll  notice that for producer security we will continue to rope behind the tents -- please do not go under them to enter or exit the market.  Please enter and exit the market at First and R and R and Florida.

Back to the food:

Damien at Panorama is a wild man at the pastry kitchen at Panorama and this week he created  ANOTHER THREE new desserts for us plus he is bringing back the Breton Apple Tart.  Strawberry Tart, Chocolate Eclair,  Caramel Salted Butter Macaron. Plus a reprise of the Breton Apple Tarte.

Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors that we are open Sundays and Reid turns itself into an impressive popup Plant Nursery for much of May --see the bottom of the email for more details.  Groff's Content has some new cuts of lamb and beef.

NEW this week:

  • Reid will have a BUNCH of sweet PA strawberries, spinach and some buttercrunch lettuce
  • Garner will have baby summer squash, baby new potatoes, bunches of basil
  • Number 1 Sons will add Sunny Dills to their 4 cucumber pickles
  • Whisked has added Strawberry Rhubarb pie, the epitome of Spring
  • Chinese Street Market has pork soup dumplings this week - amazing!

Have you ever tried Kuku Sabzi, the Persian omelette that is green with herbs? This is a good month for it with our eggs and all the different herbs you can chop into it. Easy to make, good for brunch and very pretty. Samin Nosrat's uses green garlic which we have at Shenandoah. She calls it a fried pie of herbs and greens because it is much more greens bound by eggs than the reverse in a classic omelette.

Here is a sample of what we will have at market:

Spring onions, scallions, garlic, carrots, kales, arugula, lettuces, beets, radishes, bok choi, chard, spinach, collards,  cabbages, their own grits, cornmeal, potted herbs and annuals and perennials.
