Subject:   Stock Up for Memorial Day at BFM Sunday

Damian will have chocolate eclairs and strawberry tarts

Hi BFM Fans,

I wanted to share a special strawberry and rum based barbecue sauce: for cookouts Monday when it will finally be a lovely, sunny day!  So, whether you are in DC or at the beaches or camping, please try this sauce.  Reid has lots of strawberries.

https://www.finecooking.com/recipe/strawberry-bbq-sauce

Fresh and fruity, it's great with pork and chicken. Think grilled foods, smoked chicken wings, a glaze for meatloaf or even a dip for French Fries.  From Soul: a Chef's Culinary Evolution in 150 recipes by Todd Richards.

Reid is starting to pivot from their impressive popup Plant Nursery --see the bottom of the email for more details. Meats to grill Monday?  Groff's Content. Their chickens are back in the coolers.

NEW this week:

  • Groff's Content will have their famous Freedom Ranger chickens at BFM again. Just in time to spatchcock and grill one.
  • Damien at Panorama is bringing the new Strawberry Tart and the Chocolate Eclair and hot dog rolls and buns
  • Reid will have a BUNCH of sweet PA strawberries, sugar snaps, spinach, buttercrunch lettuce and ciders in 1/2 gallon growlers
  • Garner will have baby summer squash, baby new potatoes, bunches of basil
  • Number 1 Sons will add Sunny Dills to their 4 cucumber pickles-- every Memorial Day cookout needs pickles or kraut or kimchi
  • Whisked cookies are always the right thing to bring.   (Did you know 3 are Vegan?)
  • Chinese Street Market chili sauce is a perfect condiment to grilled veg or meat.
  • Ask Swirly Girl which of the 22 cheeses will melt best on your grilled foods-- Create a cheese platter.
  • Are you grilling some of the King Mushrooms?
  • Green Kale Fusilli makes the best pasta salad!
