Hi BFM Fans,

Garner sent me photos of the tomatoes ripening and that they were picking (above). There will be sooo many tomatoes on Sunday--all kinds and colors of heirlooms, a rainbow of cherry tomatoes and the non heirloom Early Girls that I like a lot.

I will probably just make a tomato salad every day, probably twice a day this week. Tomatoes sliced, salted until the juices run and then I pour some good olive oil over it to make its own tomatogrette.  No vinegar or lemon juice needed.  Sprinkle with chopped chives or mint or basil or parsley.  I also love Caprese:tomatoes layered with mozzarella and I never say no to  Greek Tomato Salad with cucumber and feta and olives.

I am addicted to Panzanella, a Tuscan salad of torn or chopped dense, stale bread, chopped tomatoes and onions. You can add cucumbers and basil too. Olive Oil and Vinegar.  So buy an extra Pano bread so you can make this towards the end of the week.

If you want a modern version that uses toasted bread, tested out by Serious Eats,  try this.

Want a classic tomato Tapa?  I love the Pan con Tomate -- also called Pa amb tomaquet in Catalan. Toast or grill a piece of Pano bread and then rub a peeled clove of garlic into it. Then rub a really ripe, juicy, tomato into it. Drizzle a good olive oil and salt. Serve.

TIP: Some Catalan people grate the tomato into a bowl and spoon that over the garlicky bread.

Cool dessert: As it is getting hotter again, create your own ice cream sandwiches with Whisked cookies. What flavor do you think will go best with their new creamsicle cookie?  Orange sorbet? Never too hot for pie -- add a scoop of ice cream to each slice.
