Scott, DDOT issued the RFP in late June, and bids are due on July 18.  Don't know how long it takes for them to pick a contractor, but once they do it should be about three months to have the signs fabricated and installed.

Subject: Heritage Trail - Good News!

Dear Friends,

It has been many months since I’ve been in touch with you about our wonderful Heritage Trail for LeDroit Park and Bloomingdale.  I’ve been waiting to have some good news on finishing the trail, and now it seems to be here.

Two weeks ago, DDOT finally issued the Request for Proposals for a contractor to manufacture and install the last two Heritage Trails in the system: yours and Anacostia.

The wheels of bureaucracy can be slow (you may recall that we finished our part of the project in March 2013), but we all kept the faith and will now be rewarded!

I don’t know how long it will take for the contract to be let, but once it is, the Heritage Trail will be installed three months later.  And then we celebrate!

Your faithful Working Group co-chairs, Robert Sullivan, John Salatti, and Maybelle Taylor Bennett, have quietly yet tirelessly stayed in touch with DDOT and city officials all this time.  Much credit goes to them for making sure that LeDroit Park and Bloomingdale receive the same opportunity to build community pride, educate the public, and attract tourism that 15 other neighborhoods enjoy.

Needless to say, I’m delighted at the news and look forward to seeing your Heritage Trail to its conclusion.

I’ll be back in touch as soon as I know more about the schedule.

Until then, dear friends, my gratitude for your participation and your patience!

Yours,

Jane
