World Missions Extension Center gets $5000 grant from ANC 5C

This evening, ANC 5C held a called Special Meeting for the presentation and voting on Grant applications received for ANC 5C commission area community based summer programs. These applications were received either at or after our May 17, 2011 regular monthly meeting. Commissioner Tim Clark, Chair, Grants Committee will be putting out a more detailed announcement about the awarding of these grants, and the acceptance of additional grant applicantions in the coming days. Below is a brief recap of the grants awarded at our Special Meeting:

1. Dunbar PTSA (Location ANC 5C02) $3,315.00 (Educational Support Services)
2. Metropolitan Basketball League (ANC 5C02) $6,870.00 (At-Risk Youth, Teen, Adults Crime Prevention Program)
3. Cougars Competitive Cheerleaders Program (ANC 5C05, H. Thomas Rec Center) $4,997.44 (Competitive Fitness & Educational Support Program)
4. World Missions EXTENSION Center (ANC 5C03) $5,000.00 (Educational Support)
5. Do the Write Thing Foundation of DC (DTWT) (ANC 5C03) $6,500.00 (Educational Support)
Total: $26,682.44

These programs provided detailed applications with supporting documentation. In the awarding of these grants, ANC 5C Commissioners see these programs, some who have received prior grants from 5C, being highly successful in their efforts to provide organized, structured, nurturing and supportive programs to over 700 young people in our Commission area.
