*Bethune Goes to Hollywood* Batter up on Saturday and come on to 1318 Vermont Avenue, N.W. at noon! See the 2013 feature film "42" starring Chadwick Boseman, Nicole Beharie, and Harrison Ford, as part of "Bethune Goes to Hollywood" ‪#‎BlackHistoryMonth‬ programs!

The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson and, under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey, Robinson's signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African American player to break the baseball color barrier. The story focuses mostly on the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers season and somewhat on Robinson's 1946 season with the Montreal Royals, which emphasize his battles with racism.
After the film, guests will tour the historic site and discover how Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, in her roles as an educator, women's and civil rights leader, and presidential adviser became not only the most powerful African American of her era, but also one of the most influential women of the twentieth century. In addition, guests will also view our newest exhibit, "Bethune Goes to Hollywood" and learn about the her relationship with Jackie Robinson.

MONDAY: Ranger Reading 10:30-11:30 AM Monday, February 16 in honor of Presidents' Day, Of Thee I Sing, written by President Obama and his daughters. Then create-your-own-flag craft.
