Passed along by John Salatti.
Here is the Washington Post's obituary for our good friend and neighbor, Reggie Thomas.

December 31, 1943 - May 5, 2012

A native of Washington, DC, Reggie Thomas died suddenly on May 5, 2012. Reggie served in the
U.S. Navy (1962-1966) on the USS Chickaskia during the Viet Nam conflict, and in the U.S. Navy Reserves (1966-68). After serving his country, Reggie returned to DC, where he worked for Vitro Corporation in Silver Spring for 30 years. He spent his retirement as a master modelsmith, creating one-of-a-kind models of boats, one of which, the Jacob Pike, is on exhibit at the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, Maine.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Kahn Thomas; his children with Ellen Washington Dory, Edward Reginald Thomas III (Dorothy) and Nicole Thomas Allen, both of Bowie, MD; a sister, Janet Jefferson, of Camp Springs, MD; and grandchildren Desi Wade, Donte Wade, Alexys Allen, and Erik Thomas.

A memorial service will be held at All Souls Unitarian Church, 1500 Harvard Street NW, Washington DC on Thursday, May 10 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, or The Ellington Fund, 3500 R St., NW, Washington, DC 20007 in his memory.
