tonight: DC Water First Street Tunnel forum

Come on out!

Dear FST Stakeholder,

Thank you for expressing an interest in participating in the DC Clean Rivers First Street Tunnel Forum. The purpose of the Tunnel Forum is to establish an organized group of community stakeholders focused on the construction phase of this important project. The Tunnel Forum is intended to assist DC Water and the Design-Builder (SKJD) to address the concerns of the neighborhood.
It should be noted, that during the design phase, a number of mitigation items were requested by the community, and have been included in the construction contract.  It is important that we work together to extract the best results from these contracted services. It will be the role of the Tunnel Forum to:
·         Advise on the roll-out and ongoing function of the 24/7 project hotline.
·         Advise on the criteria for and rules for use of the 24/ 7 Alternative Parking Areas.
·         Advise on the roll-out and proper functioning of the 24/7 shuttle vans.
·         Advise on the identification of residents with the closest direct impacts, so that we can insure building access, delivery of services or make any special arrangements required.
·         Understand the rodent and pest control plan.
·         Understand the safety and security protocols required.
·         Monitor traffic control for streets and alley ways adjacent to work.
·         Learn about the activities at each Construction Staging Area and the project milestones.
·         Learn about noise and vibration monitoring and mitigation.
·         Solicit names of local organizations, including schools that may benefit from FST presentations.
·         Review and comment on the final landscaping and restoration plans for each CSA in conjunction with the appropriate permitting agencies.
All meetings will be open to the general public. The first meeting of the FST Tunnel Forum will be an organizational meeting with a FST construction update and a focus on the FST project’s 24/7 hotline.
