today over in Brookland at the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild -- volunteer gardening opportunities

See this message from the director of the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild, 14th & Quincy Pl NE in Brookland:

I will be at the Monastery's Greenhouse on Saturday, 05/16/2015, from 9:30 am - 3 pm.   The focus will be on weeding in the vegetable and rose gardens; rose pruning; watering plants; transplanting mint & marigolds and vegetable/herb planting.

Joe Bozik will be picking up several new bee packages and introducing them into their brand-new bee hives on Sunday, 5/17/15 from 7-9 pm.  http://www.beverlybees.com/install-package-bees-langstroth-hive/
Since the back gates will be locked on Sunday evening after 5 pm, please meet Joe at the Monastery's Main Gate at 7 pm.
There is a free parking directly across the street from the Monastery's Main Gate.  The Monastery is also accessible via Metro's Red Line via the Brookland/CUA stop.  You may take the H6 bus (direction Fort Lincoln) and disembark at 14th & Quincy Sts. NE or take a 15 minute walk up hill via Newton St. NE to 14th St. NE (take a left) and proceed to Monastery's Main Gate at Quincy St. NE.

If you're available, come on by!

Regards,

Lou
