Subject: Sunday, 7/26 MEETING RE BLOOMINGDALE VILLAGE CENTER
Thanks to all who have volunteered to help us develop plans for the Bloomingdale Village Center! We will hold our initial meeting:
SUNDAY, JULY 26
1 P.M. - 3 P.M.
49 T ST., NW (Bertha Holliday's home)
The Village Center will be located at the intersection of 1st St., Rhode Island and T St., NW and extend south on 1st St. to Seaton Pl. The Center will serve to promote our comunity and its businesses; provide inclusive social spaces in a garden setting; and promote a sense of 'place' through construction of a landmark clock/statute, an electronic community bulletin which will include up-to-date listings of community opportunities and events, a digital 'living' history of Bloomingdale, videotapped oral history interviews; and a listing of Bloomingdale businesses. We have received a $2500 grant from the Humanities Council of DC to develop plans and designs for the Village Center ,to develop a history of Bloomingdale, and to conduct oral history interviews.
Sunday's meeting will involve all persons who have volunteered.
AGENDA
- Welcome, project overview, Q &A (Bertha, Paul & Zach -- 30 minutes)
- 3 Break-out Groups (Landscape/streetsscape/design; Bloomingdale history; oral history interviews). Groups will discuss objectives (to be completed by 10/1/1s)5), procedures and logistics, timelines, and assignment of responsibilities; also develop roster of group members to be emailed to all to enhance communication -- 75 minutes.
- Report-back of breakout groups; next steps; Q & A (15 minutes).
