To emphasize what an opportunity this could be: the incentive is DC / DDOE picking up the *full cost* of solar panels and install via rebate on a first come first serve basis. Hard to beat FREE!

Scott,
Good evening! As someone in process of getting solar panels myself, with one neighbor having done so, one across the street, wanted to give exposure to this opportunity for lower income neighbors. Not just possible big financial savings and helping the planet-- also possible defensive measure against adjoining pop ups given draft zoning rule! Submitted for your consideration.
Have a great evening,

D.C. has seen amazing growth in solar in the past two years. Falling costs, strong incentive programs, and community buying groups combined to make our city solar friendly. Still, many low-income families have not been able to access solar. That’s why the District Department of Environment and DC Sustainable Energy Utility have partnered to jointly fund a low-income solar incentive program.

DC SUN is hosting an info meeting to educate the community about solar and this program. We will guide low-income homeowners on how to qualify and contact an authorized solar installer. Please share this email with groups and folks you think would be interested in this opportunity.
In order to qualify for the program, a person must:
- own their home
- make less than 30% of area medium income (roughly $60,000 for a household of 4)
- have a solar capable roof
Even if you don't meet these requirements, feel free to join us to learn more about solar energy or discuss D.C.'s low income solar energy policy and programs. We hope you encourage your friends and neighbors to come too!
