Dear St. George's Parish Family,

Welcome to your online Holy Week and Easter worship guide. I hope you will be able to tune in to our YouTube Channel to experience the way we are able to bring church to each of you during this time of separation and isolation due to COVID-19.

This is a reminder that you can tune in each day during Holy Week. Holy Monday and Holy Tuesday have already been posted. Holy Wednesday will be posted by 5 p.m. tonight, April 8, 2020.

When at St. George's YouTube Channel, please subscribe to the channel. When you subscribe, you will be notified when we post a new video to our channel.

Joining me in bringing the Office of Evening Prayer to you this week along with the Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday liturgies is The Reverend Yolanda Rolle, a friend and colleague in the Diocese of Washington and the Chaplain at Howard University. I believe you will find her presence in prayer to be what we need in this time.

Again, please join us as day by day we walk with Jesus to the cross. And as we do in the darkness and anxiety, let us remember that we stand at the grave as we make our song, "Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia."

The Rev. Marilyn Jenkins

Maunday Thursday
April 9, 2020
Maundy Thursday is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Washing of the Feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in the canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.

Good Friday
April 10, 2020
Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover.

Holy Saturday
April 11, 2020
This day, known as Holy and Great Saturday, is also called The Great Sabbath since it is on this day that Christ "rested" physically in the tomb.
