DC Water 1st Street Tunnel 07-01-2015 update -- "will not pursue a double shift at this time"

Subject: FST Project Update
Date: Wed, 1 Jul 2015 16:30:51 +0000
Greetings First Street Tunnel Stakeholder,
We are contacting you to alert you of recent and upcoming First Street Tunnel (FST) Project activity:
1)      July Fourth Holiday Schedule :  In observation of the Independence Day Holiday, SKJD will not be working on Friday, July 3 nor Saturday, July 4, 2015—All CSAs will be closed on both days.  Work will resume on Monday, July 6th.
2)      Tunnel Forum Meeting:  The next Tunnel Forum community meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 7:00pm at Saint George’s Episcopal Church, located at 160 U Street, NW—if your schedule allows, please join us.
3)      Extended Project Work Hours: On Saturday, June 27, DC Water and the FST contractor, Skanska Jay Dee (SKJD), hosted a community meeting to discuss SKJD’s proposal to extend the project work hours as a way to recover schedule.  After hearing the community’s concerns and strong opposition to this proposal, DC Water will not pursue nor approve a double shift at this time. SKJD will continue to work the established hours (7AM-7PM weekdays and 9AM to 5PM on Saturdays). The contractor is continuing to look for ways to improve the existing schedule, but project completion is currently two months behind schedule. We will continue to update the public on schedule status at future meetings.
As always, if you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Tom Lindberg at 202.787.4738 or Vickey Wilcher or 202.787.4717.
Thank you for your participation and support of the FST project and we look forward to our continued work together.
Have a SAFE and Happy Holiday Weekend.
