Not sure how open minded the Bloomingdale Civic Association is about whether our neighborhood should be designated a historic district when the flyer asks for a donation to "help fund this community effort to preserve historical Bloomingdale." I am very worried about being railroaded into something by a civic association that clearly isn't representing skeptics like me.

Yep, I'm also skeptical about historic district designation. Seems like a lot more hassle for those people who need to fix up their houses but don't have many resources to do so.

Consider attending the meeting and get your feedback in and concerns addressed.

I've replaced about 15 windows (they were aluminum and are now vinyl) in my house at an enormous cost, and have at least six more to replace. I don't want to put wood-framed windows in my house, something a Historical Preservation Board might require, because of the higher cost per window and because it wouldn't match the ones I've already replaced in the last 10 years. Can you assure me I would not have to put in historically correct wood framed windows?

Pretty sure the BCA-HPB committee isn't answering questions on a neighbor's blog. Attend the meeting and get your feedback in and concerns addressed.
