Subject: First Street Tunnel Community Update, April 15, 2016
Greetings
First Street Tunnel Stakeholders,
Update
on Abigail ‒ Great News!
Abigail, the micro-tunnel boring machine (MTBM) operating 24/7
under the 100 block of Adams Street NW, has successfully completed her
run. The last pipe segment was safely placed into position on Friday,
April 15. SKJD will begin the process of demobilization of the MTBM
equipment, including the temporary slurry plant and other surface equipment,
within the construction staging area during regular working hours.
The First Street
Tunnel team greatly appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the
community during this emergency mining effort. SKJD plans to resume its
regular working hours, Monday through Friday from 7 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm until the project is complete. We are
moving with all deliberate speed to a late
June/early July finish.
As always, if you
have any questions or concerns about construction, please call the 24/7 Hotline
at 1-844-FST-INFO (1-844-378-4636). Please continue to check our web site for updated
project information (http://dcwater.com/workzones/projects/first_street_tunnel/).
Thank you, Bloomingdale!
Sincere
Regards, Tom

Abigail turned out to be pretty ornery, as kids can be, but she finally competed mining at 2 AM. #BloomingdaleDC
