    • First Street NW Pumping Station Construction Site
    • Florida Avenue NW Construction Site
    • R Street NW Construction Site
    • T Street NW Construction Site
We look forward to providing construction site updates and answering your questions.

Construction Site Mobilization
As a part of construction work associated with the Northeast Boundary Tunnel Project (NEBT) (dcwater.com/NEBT), DC Water’s contractor will begin mobilizing the T Street NW Construction Site. Work is expected to begin on or about March 16, 2020. Mobilization includes setting up a perimeter fence around the construction site area; delivering equipment and materials to the site; installing erosion and sediment control and installing temporary storm water management measures.

Traffic access to the 100-block of T Street NW will be closed from Rhode Island Avenue NW. However, access to T Street will still be available from 2nd Street NW. Parking will be restricted along both sides of T Street where the construction site will be located. The remainder of T Street will be available for parking.

First Street Pumping Station and the T Street NW Construction Sites will be active concurrently. This means that two lanes of traffic will be maintained along with parking restrictions on Rhode Island Avenue NW between North Capitol and 2nd Streets NW.

The pedestrian detours will be provided at sections where the cross-walk is impeded at T Street.

Additional Travel and parking Restrictions
  • Westbound Rhode Island Avenue will be reduced to two lanes between First Street NW and 2nd Street NW.
  • Parking restrictions on westbound Rhode Island Avenue between First Street NW and T Street NW.

Project Details
The Northeast Boundary Tunnel is the largest component of the Clean Rivers Project. It begins south of RFK Stadium and will extend north to Rhode Island Avenue, NE and west to 6th Street NW. When complete, the approximately five-mile long tunnel will significantly reduce chronic flooding in areas it serves, as well as reduce the amount of combined sewer overflows into the Anacostia River by 98%.
