Happy Almost-Friday everyone, I was reading up on the DC blogosphere and I stumbled across a new service called NextDoor (www.nextdoor.com). In a nutshell, it's another way to have community discussions, but it's more visual, so it's much easier to organize and navigate versus a listserv, where we all just get a ton of e-mails. In other words, it's kind of like Facebook for our neighborhood. It's closed off only to our neighborhood (address verification is required) and this will allow us to have many of the same conversations we have now in a better medium.
I just signed up, but it's useless unless there are others from the neighborhood taking part. I can't say I know everything about the service, as I signed up 5 minutes ago, but if you want to learn more, go here:
Re: NextDoor - Looks like some of our Eckington neighbors have joined - I have received two invitations to join from them. Personally, I am not that anxious to join another list unless I know a little more about it, so would love to hear from anyone in Bloomingdale who has joined.
Ileana in Eckington has mentioned that the Eckington/Bloomingdale borders are not accurate and has contacted them to correct it. She seems excited about the possibilities of NextDoor.
