Peachy at the Market

Hello BFM fans,

Welcome back, everyone, from last week's superheat. (Remember even on
very hot days, the market is not really hot until after we close at 1 pm). Some
recipes for summer parties: summer
corn cakes
, grilled
pork chops
, and chilled
cucumber soup
. And don't forget to check out Reid's new blog
- great articles and recipes on currants, gooseberries and peaches
including: What's the difference between clingstone and freestone --is one
better than the other?!

Next week we are going to
DESTROY the myth of al dente pasta for pasta salad. Don't miss it.

New and Notable:
*New* Peach Pie from Whisked

  • Lion's Mane Mushroom
         double extraction.
  • IT'S BACK! Number 1 Sons Stinking Rye Sauerkraut! Sour, crunchy + zing-y! Great on hot dogs or eaten alone!
  • Watermelon Cucumber Kombucha is refreshingly sweet and sour. Made with farmers market watermelons!

MUSIC this week is Jason Mogavero.

BIKE HOUSE will be here from 11 to 1 to
help you fix your bikes. Brakes. Gears. Chains. Flats. Trueing wheels. They
know it all.

Cucina Al Volo: Dried pasta,
ravioli, and sauces such as pesto, lamb ragu, beef bolognese, cherry tomato,

TIP: Did you
know that the spirally kale fusilli makes the best pasta salad? The spirals
capture all the bits and pieces of chopped vegetables, meats, cheeses and herbs.

Keswick:Cow milk and mixed milk cheese. Hard to soft, styles from around
the world, Robin’s favorite yogurt and chocolate pudding.
  Nutty in flavor, Alpine-style
Tommes, Swirly Girl, Mesquite smoked Smokey Isabelle, funky, fresh, spreadable
Cowttin.  Soft-ripened, ash-covered Winter Morning has a creamy center,
ricotta, quark, and mixed milk feta. Robin says: if you like creamier
feta, drop it into filtered water for a day. Scratch are this week's
experiments that may turn into a regular, named cheese. Mild flavored, mixed
milk Colby is a great melter.

Transform that sweet ricotta curd into the best whipped secret weapon with
grated lemon zest and a hand blender. Can go sweet with berries or savory if
you add herbs and peppers. I like it on green beans or eggplant or zucchini. Or
stuffed in squash blossoms.

Do you like Indian
food, do you need paneer? Their Vachino Bianca is paneer in Italian.
