see this 1942 release from racial deed covenants -- because Negro owners maintain their properties better than white renters
In 1942, part of the 100 block of Adams Street NW signed a release from the deed covenants.
The theme is that Negro owners are better than white renters and the neighbors would rather have the Negro owners because they maintained their properties
, whereas white renters did not.
