Hi BFM fans!

Black raspberries are one of the reasons people come to farmers markets.  You won't find these delicate berries in supermarkets and their season is very short.  Probably just this week.  So take some of these sweet and tart beauties and make a favorite recipe for them.-- Black Raspberry Custard Pie.  (Remember they are NOT blackberries.)

I am inviting you to join us at a perfect farmers market on Sunday-- you won't have to beat the heat because it won't be too hot and it won't be too humid.

PEACHES are finally here. Now we know it is summer when the peaches arrive at Reid and maybe these insanely hot days have concentrated the juices as they usually do.

TIP: Peaches are great cut in half and grilled cut side down.  Top with yogurt or cream or ice cream.  Strew a few berries on top.
REID'S: Peaches! Blueberries, sweet cherries, sour cherries, red and black raspberries, red and black currants, and the first new apples: Lodi applesauce apples.

Try a Peach and Cherry Salsa this week.

CUCINA AL VOLO: They have authentic, Italian pastas for pasta salad. made by an Italian uncle and nephew. But they also have great pastas for fast food the way it should be: restaurant quality dinner that you can get on the table in 10 minutes with their homemade pastas and sauces.

MOUNTAIN VIEW ORGANICS:  Besides tomatoes, Shawna will have new potatoes, leeks, fennel, fresh garlic, summer crisp lettuce, kale, beets, chard, squash, 3 types of cucumbers including the long sweet Japanese, basil, mint, other herbs.

GREEK SALAD TIME: Chunks of cukes with tomatoes and Keswick Feta or whateve Sara recommends. Basil or Mint. A little hot pepper can be nice too.

NUMBER 1 SONS: The pickles are front and center at the stand from half sours to full sours. Super Sours are finally back after a full month fermenting in their barrels with plenty of garlic and warming spices.  All fermented pickles are naturally probiotic.  What about the vinegar pickles? Number 1 partners with a Virginia family producer of cider vinegar to create the popular Honey Habaneros and Cider Masala Beets. And of course, there are the krauts and kimchi.

TRUCK PATCH: Squash blossoms, cukes, baby squash ( yellow, bicolor, flying saucers), garlic chives, beets and their greens, spring onions, mixed salads, arugula, chard, kales, spinach, herbs, farmers flower bouquets.

KESWICK CREAMERY: Tour de Fromage at Keswick is always worth your time. So many choices. Goat cheese from goats raised by Sara, Jersey cow cheese from cows raised by Melanie and family and mixed milk cheeses from both milks, (duh.) These are European inspired aged raw milk and fresh pasturized cheeses plus the best yogurt in the DMV.
