PRESS RELEASE

Bloomingdale, Washington DC – In July, the Bloomingdale Small Business Association (BSBA) formed to assist and organize the small business community in Bloomingdale.  Our mission is to support, protect, and help advocate for the small businesses.  In turn, as an association, we will help continue the tremendous growth and enhancement of the neighborhood at large.  In addition to the support of businesses, the BSBA will hold social and service oriented events for the community at large.

 

With the number of businesses growing and Bloomingdale becoming a “live, work, play” neighborhood, it’s important for businesses to come together.  We will provide a unified voice to the business community and help our shareholders to continue providing the desired services and products and robust employment opportunities that are needed to sustain the success and positive growth of our neighborhood.  We are pleased to announce interest in BSBA membership has been robust with 15 major businesses already committed in July alone and many more expressing interest as we move through the beginning of August.  We plan to have 30-50 businesses in our ranks by the end of the year.

 

As one of our first acts, we are assisting several local businesses with a matter concerning DCRA and Pepco having to do with some mishandled power outages resulting in lost inventory and revenue.  We are confident that as a unified association we will be able to get these two large organizations to come to the table, address our concerns, make financial restitution to the effected businesses.  We are also hopeful that with the BSBA’s help and council, Pepco and DCRA will be able to make many necessary improvements to their procedures and to their communications with regard to the handling of relations with the business community in Bloomingdale so they can ensure the mishandling of utility services can be avoided in the future. 

 

A website (below) has been established to provide more information to the community at large and also provide a way for any business in Bloomingdale to email the BSBA for more information on how to join the association.  We have also set up a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/bloomingdalesmallbusinessassociation) where information can be released quickly about upcoming events and breaking news and information surrounding the business community.  We encourage everyone, business or not, to like us on Facebook.
