neighbor on the 2000 Block of 1st Street NW who was not solicited to engage in the DC Water First Street Tunnel project now wants to be engaged

See this 08-09-2013 message:

Dear Council Member McDuffie, Mr. Briggs, ANC Commissioners and All,

Last week homeowners received letters from DC WASA notifying us of plans for digging the First Street Tunnel from Rhode Island to Bryant Street beginning in October 2013.

Although we are aware that the tunnel project courses along First Street NW, until this recent notification many 1st street homeowners' understood the project ran on 1st up to Bryant, at 2nd on to Adams, then ran down Flagler.

Consequently, most 1st street homeowners were not actively engaged or solicited to engage the recently concluded hearing-planning process.

Therefore, it is imperative that WASA officials, Council McDuffie, and ANCs meet with homeowners of affected properties from Bryant to Rhode Island as soon as possible to address questions and explain the scope of work--Increasingly, rumors are spreading re the scope of work (especially given local residents opposition to the Mayor's vision for the McMillan site) and dissatisfaction and concerns that we were not consulted are growing.

Thanking you in advance for your prompt attention.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Lashley
2000 block of First Street NW
