Good idea of the week:  Stuff some fresh figs with feta, bake them in the oven and drizzle with honey.  Sprinkle a bit of rosemary or thyme on top.  Eat.
 
Reid’s Orchard: yellow peaches (a mix of varieties so come ready to taste, white peaches (White Lady), yellow and white donut peaches, plums, yellow nectarines, apples (Zesta, Earligold, Ginger Gold, Pristine, Paula Red, Gravenstein, Rambo, Mollie's Delicious), blueberries, blackberries, red raspberries.  NEW: Suffolk red seedless grapes. And a huge selection of heirloom tomatoes.
 
News from Painted Farm:  Sandy says: “I am having four more milk-fed kids processed this week into primal cuts and will be bringing them fresh to market. The primal cuts are when an animal is broken down into six pieces--hind, rack and front. The hind (full leg with shank and chump) is great for roasting whole or cubing up for kebobs. The rack (whole loin, ribs and belly),  roasted on the grill is absolutely decadent! Or it can be trimmed up to a standing rack or individual chops. For those adventurous with a knife, filet the entire loin off the bone for meal of utter luxury.
 
The most coveted of all, however, is the front quarter (shoulder, foreshank. breast and neck). This is the most versatile cut of the goat as it can be broken down into so many different pieces. It also contains the more fat than the leg and rack adding flavor to stews and curries. With the final days of summer approaching, these cuts will make for memorable Labor Day weekend celebrations. Don't miss out!
 
Garner’s Produce:  FIGS. Who gives a fig?  I certainly do and you should, too, because the season is short.  They are Tomatoes of all sorts including many cherry tomatoes, Yellow sweet corn, Lima beans (just like edamames!), watermelons, melons (cantaloupes, Fascination, Sun), Red and baby Yukon spuds. Peppers of many colors, cukes. Green and yellow and flat Italian beans.  Summer squashes, oregano, mint, basil, okra, blackberries…
 
MOUNTAIN VIEW ORGANIC: Tomatoes?  Take a look here:   Asian and European varieties of eggplant, Attila's amazing Hungarian  peppers, hot and sweet.  Dry and grind your own Paprika. French Fingerling, Carola and Red Maria potatoes. Beets, golden or red. Carroty carrots. Garlic, Onions, okra.
 
Keswick Creamery: Their beautiful Jersey cows are out on pasture all the time and eat no grain and the milk tells the story.  Try any of the 15 aged raw milk cheeses or the fresh pasteurized ones  (quark, fetas celebrating in their glory now with tomatoes and cukes).  The mixed milk camembert is the real deal.  And as you know, I swear by their yogurt...
 
TRUCK PATCH FARMS:  Take a look at their pretty baby squash -- yellow, striped kousa, zucchini, patty pan, Magda. Squash blossoms.  Huge selection of toms include Big Beef, Black Krim, Valencia, Early Girl, Brandywine, German Stripey, Aunt Ruby, Cherokee Purple, Green Zebra, German Pink, Great White, Prudence Purple.  Armenian cukes, eggplant, rainbow chard, Dino kale, Curly kale, salad greens, arugula, baby spinach, purple and green basil bunches, okra, purple and green  and wax beans.
 
 In the TP eggs and Meat Department: Eggs. Chicken. Cut up and ground Turkey. Pork:  a dozen different sausages ,  bacons,  pork chops, salt pork,  chops,  pork sirloins, pork steaks, , country ribs, spare ribs, butt roast, boneless shoulder roast, boneless and bone-in loin roasts, scrapple,
 
PANORAMA : French breakfast pastries like palmiers, almond croissants plus the plain and chocolate croissants, baguettes, the olive oil buns that grace the 25 dollar hamburgers at Central and the Rustiques they serve you at Citronelle and CityZen.  Sandwich breads, too.  If they are out of a bread you crave, ask them to save one for you for next week.  Late risers:  sometimes the whole wheat, multigrain and sourdough boules and loaves sell out early.  So reserve what you want!  Email if you do not see something you want, please.
 
DOLCEZZA:  Robb and Violeta are the king and queen of local gelato, using farm ingredients all summer long to flavor their luscious ice creams and sorbets
 
WHISKED: Jenna’s late summer pie is a marriage of tart and sweet, her blackberry plum (with a butter or a vegan crust, your choice).The Peach Raspberry is equally good and if you are hankering for a savory quiche, try the Corn-Tomato-Basil or the earthy mushroom with creamy goat cheese.

Number 1 Sons:  Dilly beans and tiny cornichons make great swizzle sticks for Cocktails.  Pickles, krauts and kimchis too.
