Hi Scott,

I met you last month at the Bloomingdale community police event. I had mentioned the Race for Every Child event which supports Children's National Health System and DC and is so close to our community. It would be fantastic if you could help promote this through your Bloomingdale emails and blog or any other outlets you can think of. Below is a blurb about the race but I have also attached our flyer as a PDF and JPG. Let me know if this is helpful or if you need more information/materials in order to share it:

Dear _____,

Children’s National Health System’s will host its second annual Race for Every Child on Saturday, September 13, 2014 starting at 8:30 a.m. This 5K run/walk will be held along “America’s Main Street” of Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and The White House. The race will culminate in family activities and events at Freedom Plaza celebrating children’s health and wellness and the mission of Children’s National.

As a DC community member and Bloomingdale resident, I invite you to take part in this event alongside more than 4,000 runners, walkers, families, and friends as we raise critical funds to meet the health needs of children in our community and advance children's health across the country and around the world.  You can start a team, join a team, or run or walk as an individual in the 5K (3.1 miles). We also have a 100-Yard Kids' Dash for children ages 3 - 10. The day includes a variety of family-friendly activities such as face painters, balloon artists, Fit Kids children's exercise activities, Great Kids Events inflatables, food trucks, a vendor area, local mascots and super heroes (including Batman and the Bat Mobile) and more!

With your support, we can make this an unforgettable celebration and a tremendous fundraising success for the young patients at Children’s National.

Funds raised will play a key role in supporting the work of Children’s National’s world-renowned faculty and staff.  These critical funds help to:

  • provide top-notch care to children, regardless of their families’ ability to pay;
  • invest in future cures for some of the most devastating childhood diseases; and
  • recruit the best and brightest faculty, expand our programs, and update our facilities to provide the most innovative care for our patients

Now more than ever, we rely on the generosity of our community to help save and improve the lives of children in the Washington area, across the country, and around the world.  On behalf of Children’s National and the children and families we serve, I hope you will join us for an unforgettable day as we make great strides together.

For more information visit our website - www.raceforeverychild.org - or for questions, please contact us at 301-565-8577 or email Ashley Husich at ahusich@childrensnational.org  (I am a Bloomingdale resident and would love to get a Bloomingdale Race Team together if anyone is interested!).

Thank you!

Ashley Husich
